Gunmen Invade Kogi Community

Bagana Community in Omala Local Government Area, Kogi State was in the late hours of Tuesday attacked by gunmen who killed about nine persons.

A resident who survived the attack by the whiskers said the gunmen invaded a shop located in the heart of the village and killed four persons on the spot.

He added that the attackers continued shooting sporadically in the community, leaving many injured and some dead as bullets were flying around.

About five dead bodies were on the road, including one Alias Barrister, a diesel oil dealer, and a dispensary staff of the Local Government Health Center at Ogba, residing in Bagana.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of Kogi State Command, DSP William Aya said one Usman Salifu’s shop was attacked by gunmen leading to the death of his sales boy, Bashir Sule, and three other customers, while scores sustained injuries.

He added that on receipt of the distress call, the DPO mobilized his men to the scene and evacuated some of the injured to the hospital for treatment, adding that the force has commenced a manhunt to bring the perpetrators to book.

Peace has returned and the people are urged to return to their homes, and continue with their legitimate businesses.
