Unknown gunmen have reportedly kidnapped a former Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Lawman Duruji.

Daily Report Nigeria gathered that Duruji was abducted on Saturday at Oriagu, Ehime Mbano Local Governmemt Area, on his way back from a function.

Kidnapped alongside the politician is Ezzybee, a popular businessman in Owerri.

The business tycoon was abducted on Sunday afternoon while on his way to watch a local football match.

The wife of a former chairman of Okigwe Local Government Area, Frank Onwunere, was also abducted on Sunday.

Other yet to be identified citizens of the state were also kidnapped at Okwelle junction in the Onuimo LGA of the state, and at the Umbomiri junction in the Mbaitoli and Amaraku in the Mbano LGAs of the state.

The Enugu Police Command spokesperson, Micheal Abattam, said the police was already on the trail of the kidnappers, revealing that one of victims at Ubomiri had been rescued by the police.
