Gunmen on Sunday abducted a traffic official with the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), identified as Popoola Olasupo, on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

Olasupo was kidnapped alongside his colleague at about 6am on Sunday around the Eledumare-Fidiwo axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, while they were on their way to an assignment.

A source from TRACE, who confirmed the abduction said the gunmen, who emerged from the bush, opened fire on a commercial bus in which the official was travelling and he was the only one abducted.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident.

He said,

Our anti-kidnapping squad is already after them. We are combing the forest and we know that they will all be arrested.

“Ogun State is not a ground for criminals to settle. It is either they leave or we smoke them out of this state,” Oyeyemi said.
