Gunmen suspected to be cultists have reportedly killed three people in Awka, the Anambra state capital on Tuesday, December 14.
Daily Report Nigeria gathered that the three victims were shot dead at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Junction.
The incident occurred ahead of a planned protest by tricycle operators in the state which was supposed to hold on December 15.

The protest is due to the high fees imposed on the transporters by leaders, as over N4,000 levy is being imposed on each tricycle rider in Awka North and Awka South Local Government Area, which was tagged Christmas party levy.
The gunmen reportedly blocked a red Toyota Corolla car being driven by a man identified as Snoop, who is also the leader of tricycle riders in Awka North and Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Snoop was being accompanied by two armed policemen from the state Anti-Cult department when he was accosted.
The two policemen also lost their lives in the attack.
“Snoop himself was dragged out of his car and put in the trunk of the car driven by the assailants, while riffles belonging to the policemen were made away with,” the source said.
As of the time of filing this report, the spokesperson of the Anambra State Police Command, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga was yet to react to the killing.
