Gunmen Kill GTBank Customer, Cart Away Cash in Yenagoa | Daily Report Nigeria

There was a pandemonium at the premises of Guarantee Trust Bank at the Sani Abacha Expressway in Yenagoa at about 10:30am on Friday, as armed men stormed the Bank premises Toyota Camry Car, killing a customer of the bank.

Some customers of the bank who witnessed the ugly incident narrated that a middle aged man identified as Emmanuel Omomo, was seen leaving the bank with a bag suspected to containing some amount of money.

Immediately Omomo entered a waiting tricycle (Keke), a masked gunman dressed on black clothing alighted from the supposed Toyota Camry Car and chased him.

On sighting the gunman, the victim ran out of the tricycle and ran towards the bush path behind the bank entrance where he was shot in the stomach.

The gunman further shot him repeatedly in a close range before collecting the bag, as they zoomed off towards the popular Julius Berger roundabout in the waiting car.

Although, the policemen attached to the GTBank and its neighbouring Sterling Bank responded with scary shots, they could not apprehend the gunmen, largely due to the huge crowd at the bank premises.

The victim was rushed to the emergency ward in the Yenagoa Federal Medical Centre, where he was confirmed dead shortly.

His death left relatives at the hospital wailing helplessly, calling out his name, Ibori.

One of the victim’s relations, a young male, who spoke with Kpooka Media, revealed that the victim hails from Isoko in Delta State, and was into selling .

According to him, Ibori often utilized the Bayelsa Branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria for his financial transactions, but wondered why he chose the commercial bank today, leading to his death.

Meanwhile, Ibori’s remains have since been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre morgue in Yenagoa.
