Gunmen have killed the chairperson of Ogbete Market Traders’ Association in Enugu State, South-east Nigeria.
The victim, Stephen Aniagu, was shot dead on Saturday evening.
According to sources, the market leader was attacked and killed at Moses Ogbodo Junction close to Topland Market in Amaechi Axis, Enugu South Local Government Area of the state.
A video clip circulating on social media shows the victim’s body lying on the ground in a pool of blood.

The police spokesperson in Enugu State, Daniel Ndukwe, did not confirm or deny the attack when contacted.
No group has claimed responsibility for the killing, but the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has been linked to similar attacks in the region.
However, IPOB has denied involvement in the attacks.
The killing of the market leader has raised concerns about worsening insecurity in the region.
The incident is the latest in a series of attacks that have left several people dead or injured.

The Enugu State Police Command has promised to investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The command has urged residents to remain calm and to provide any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects.
