Gunmen Kill Police Officer, Cart Away Rife, Beret While Escorting Principal

A police orderly(name withheld) has been killed in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

The incident took place near the Landmark Hotel on Olu Obasanjo Road on Friday night.

Eyewitnesses reported that the male police inspector was escorting his principal when he was shot by the assailants, who fled the scene in a grey-colored 2005 Toyota Corolla car.

The inspector’s AK-47 rifle and beret were also taken by the assailants.

The Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident and assured the public that efforts were underway to apprehend the fleeing hoodlums and recover the stolen rifle.

Koko said:
Effort is ongoing to arrest the fleeing hoodlums and recover the rifle.”

Reports further held that the inspector’s body was been taken to the Military Hospital in Port Harcourt for autopsy.
