Assailants on Tuesday killed a professor at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Dr Anthony Eze.
Dr Eze was a lecturer at the Faculty of Education in the institution.
According to a source, the lecturer was driving out of his residence at Ifite Awka, to take his children to school, when the gunmen attacked and opened fire on him.

The sources said on sighting the armed men, he attempted to flee but they rushed at him and shot him repeatedly in the chest.
It was gathered that the gunmen came with a Toyota Corolla salon and after executing their plot, fled to an unknown destination while residents in the area scampered to safety.
“We were here this morning when Dr Eze was driving out of his house and suddenly a Toyota Corolla salon pulled towards the entrance of his house and when he tried to drive back, they followed him and shot him, emptying about four bullets into his chest and ran away. A source said
“We later rushed him to the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, but the doctor on duty confirmed that he was dead.”
