A gruesome attack on the Umunze Police Station in Anambra State has left two police officers dead and parts of the station destroyed.

The gunmen, who used improvised explosives and fired shots indiscriminately, also destroyed several motorcycles parked outside the station.

The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the incident and has launched an investigation into the attack.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, visited the scene to assess the situation and reassure the public that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.

The police have recovered five unexploded improvised explosives and are working to track down the armed group responsible for the attack.

This incident marks the second major attack on a police facility in Anambra State within a fortnight, raising concerns about the escalating violence and insecurity in the region.
