Unknown gunmen on Thursday attacked the Divisional Police Headquarters in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area, Imo state, and set it ablaze.
The AK-47 wielding hoodlums invaded the station situated at Umuelemai around 7pm amidst a heavy downpour and set the prisoners free.
The suspects also kidnapped a female police officer, while her colleagues scampered for safety.

Daily Report Nigeria can recall that fleeing gunmen had on March 19, set the same Divisional Police Headquarters on fire.

A resident who spoke with the PUNCH narrated that the hoodlums repeatedly shot at the police station during the attack.
He said “The gunshots were terrifying. We were terribly tense owing to the gunshots. They supervised the burning of the place before living.”
The Imo Police Command was yet to comment on the incident as of press time.
