GYC Parliament Kicks Against Impeachment of Speaker Ekpemupolo | Daily Report Nigeria

The Gbaramatu Youths Council’s Mobile Parliament has been left divided following a purported attempt by a section of the legislature to impeach its speaker, Frank Ekpemupolo.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that parliamentarians representing Kunukunuma/Kurutie Zone cautioned the Clerk of the Parliament, Ipopo Present and others against using the name of the chamber in their malicious move.

In a statement signed by Samuel Ebisinide and Solomon Toruosei, the legislatures particularly declared support for their Speaker while condemning the ‘baseless’ statement announcing his suspension on Monday.

“We the Parliamentarians representing the above zone in strong words condemned the baseless publication suspending the Speaker of GYC’s mobile Parliament.

“Mr. Ipopo must be reminded that, Zone 3 of Gbaramatu Youths Council parliament had long wrote the executives with a protest letter dated 5th of August 2023 on the need to call for a general meeting to kick start the long overdue transition process, even the Parliament was copied in that letter.

“With that in mind, can Mr Ipopo tell the world what is wrong with Mr Speaker’s reference to same protest in calling for law and order to prevail in Council?

“Mr. Ipopo and his co-travelers appear alien to the business of parliament. We advise you to put shame aside and make yourselves teachable.

“The publication made by Mr Speaker remains the resolution of Parliament and the wordings of the publication need no further interpretation,” they stressed.

They described the move to suspend Ekpemupolo as a ‘Kangaroo plot’ and subsequently asked Ipopo to make a public apology to the Speaker of Parliament for maligning his person.
