HARDSHIP: Woman Kills Self, Jumps Off Third Mainland Bridge

A woman has jumped off the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos, killing herself.
She was confirmed dead despite efforts to revive her.

A dramatic scene has played off on the Third Mainland Bridge, following a suicide.

Daily Report Nigeria gathers that a yet to be identified woman jumped off the bridge, killing herself in the process.

This incident happened at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) waterfront in Lagos State on Thursday, around 4pm.

Confirming the incident to SaharaReporters, the PPRO of the Lagos state police command, Benjamin Hundeyin noted that upon receipt of the information, marine officers stationed in the area swung into action, with the intent of helping her.

She was subsequently rushed to the hospital after being brought out from the hospital, but was unfortunately confirmed dead by medical personnel from the University of Lagos.

Her body has been taken to the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) Mortuary in Yaba for preservation.

Hundeyin said;

“Today, March 13, 2025, at about 1600 hours, an unidentified woman reportedly jumped from the Third Mainland Bridge into the water near the UNILAG waterfront at approximately 1500 hours.

“She was recovered at the University of Lagos shore slipway by a team of marine police officers stationed in the area. Despite their efforts, she was confirmed dead by a team of UNILAG medical doctors in the presence of officers from the Sabo Police Division.”

“Her body has been evacuated to the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) Mortuary in Yaba, Lagos, for preservation,”
