Street-hop singer Portable has appealed to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) to intervene and release social media activist VeryDarkMan, who was recently taken into custody.
In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Portable described VeryDarkMan as a benevolent figure who supports those in need, despite their public disagreements.
“Please, because of God. Please free VeryDarkMan, he is my friend. He gives people food, he helps a lot of people. I love people who help people,” the singer pleaded.

According to multiple reports, VeryDarkMan was arrested shortly after stepping out of a GTBank branch. Although details of the incident remain sketchy, online speculation suggests it may be linked to his activities at the bank.
Reacting to growing criticism of the financial institution, Portable also called for calm and discouraged Nigerians from withdrawing their funds.
“Don’t remove your money from GTBank,” he advised.
The video has since stirred conversation online, with mixed reactions from social media users—some backing Portable’s appeal, while others questioned his involvement.
