Nigeria’s average cost of a healthy diet has risen to N1,265, a 1.9% increase from the previous month, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics. The South West region has the highest cost at N1,581 per adult per day, while the North West region has the lowest cost at N956 per adult per day.

“This is a lower bound (or floor) of the cost per adult per day excluding the cost of transportation and meal preparation,” the CoHD data stated. “In recent months, the CoHD has risen faster than general inflation and food inflation.”

The development comes as Nigeria’s headline and food inflation stood at 33.40% and 39.53% respectively in July 2024.
