There is heavy security setup in Abuja as the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) prepares to deliver judgment on the 2023 presidential election, today.
Daily Report Nigeria reports that the court premises as well as other key areas in the Federal Capital Territory have been well secured ahead of the tribunal’s verdict.
The verdict will be delivered on the petitions filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his counterpart in the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.
Both candidates are challenging the declaration of President Bola Tinubu as winner of the February 25 presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The Nigeria Police Force on Tuesday deployed truckloads of policemen to the Court of Appeal, Abuja, where the judgment will be declared.
Also, scores of armed riot policemen, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other security operatives in plainclothes have also been deployed to strategic locations across the capital city.
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has ordered all police commands and formations across the country to secure all major hotspots under their jurisdictions to ensure that there is no breakdown of law and order.
The police have also warned “mischief makers and political gladiators to be cautious in their actions and statements”.
In a statement on Tuesday, Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumiyiwa Adejobi, warned that the police will not condone activities capable of inciting violence or causing a descent into anarchy.
Adejobi further urged citizens to embrace peace and maintain calm, regardless of their political affiliations.
