Hisbah, a religious police in Kebbi State, has detained a 16-year-old Habibu Umar for allegedly raping two minors aged 5 and 6.
According to a statement posted on Hisbah’s Facebook page, the suspect was nabbed in the Badariya district of Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.
The religious police explained that Umar admitted to the crime, prompting his immediate transfer to the regular police force for a comprehensive investigation.

The statement written in Hausa reads: “The Hisbah government of Kebbi state has succeeded in arresting Habibu Umar, 16 years old, for allegedly raping two girls aged 5 and 6 in Badariya district of Kebbi,”
It further noted that medical examinations conducted at the Hisbah Dana Hospital confirmed the assault.

The Hisbah, in compliance with legal procedures, promptly handed over the matter to the regular police force for further investigation and subsequent presentation before the court.
