Hoodlums Set Ablaze Ebonyi High Court

An Ebonyi State High Court sitting in Owutu Edda Community in Afikpo South Local Government Area was on Tuesday set ablaze by hoodlums barely 24 hours after the governorship and house of assembly elections.

The Registrar of the Court, Mrs Oluchi Uduma who confirmed the incident to newsmen said the court was set ablaze at about 2am Tuesday.

She added that youths of the area made efforts to quench the fire and also attempted to apprehend the suspected arsonists but were unable to do so.

Uduma also revealed that some hoodlums had on the 15th of this month attempted to set the court ablaze but failed.

Confirming the incident, the chairman, Afikpo South Local Government Area, Chima Ekumankama said the local vigilante team deployed to the court was distracted by someone who called them to come to a nearby school, only for the court which they were guarding to be set ablaze.

He noted that the matter has been reported to the police and efforts are been made to arrest the perpetrators
