The House of Representatives has urged relevant authorities to conduct a thorough and logical investigation into the murder of Hanifa Abubarkar in order to apprehend everyone involved.

The House also stated that the case should be treated with the urgency and justice that it deserved so that the punishments serve as a deterrent to others with similar motives.

The House made the decision while debating a motion on the subject presented in plenary by Hon. Kabiru Idris.
It will be remembered that Abubakar, a 5-year-old student at Nobel Kids school in Kwanar Dakata, Nasarawa Local Government Area, Kano State, was abducted by her teacher on December 4, 2021.

Abdulmalik Mohammad Tanko, who demanded N6,000,000.

She was later killed after the ransom was paid.

“I wish to draw the attention of this honorable house to a tragic incident that occurred in Kano State on the 20th of January 2021,” Idris said in his motion.

Security operatives from the Nigerian Police Force and the Department of State Security Services apprehended Abdulmalik Tanko and two others in connection with the kidnapping and murder of five-year-old Hanifa Abubakar, a student at Nobel Kids school in Kwanar Dakata, Nasarawa Local Government Area, Kano State.

“He accepted the money but proceeded to murder her, a devastating situation that shocked the entire Kano state and the nation at large.”

“Mr. Speaker, Sir, a child was kidnapped and murdered by someone who is supposed to be her protector and keeper of national assets, specifically our children, our future nation builders.”

“We must put a stop to this situation because such incidents highlight our country’s security challenges.”

It is disgraceful and concerning that schoolchildren have been made unsafe, that innocent souls have been kidnapped and killed.”

The House, in adopting the motion, commended the State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and the security agencies for exercising due diligence in the operation and administration of justice.

The House was also urged by the motion’s mover to form a delegation to visit and condole with the deceased’s family and the entire Kano state people.

It charged its committees on Justice, Human Rights, Civil Societies, and Development Partners with ensuring that the resolution was followed.
