Housewife Arrested for Setting  Husband’s Mistress Ablaze

Kehinde Abdul Wasiu ,32, has been arrested by police for setting her husband’s mistress, Tosin Olugbade, 23, ablaze.

The suspect was arrested following a report lodged by the husband of the deceased, Fatai Olugbade, at Onipanu divisional headquarters Ota on November 22.

According to Olugbade, months ago his wife was accused of having extramarital affair with one Ismail Wasiu, and he was shocked to see his wife packing out of the house after the accusation, and moving in to Ismail Wasiu house.

He added that on the 14th of November 2021, an argument ensued between both women, which led to the incident that led to her death.

The deceased was rushed to the hospital by her family member after Wasiu’s wife poured petrol on her and set her ablaze but she didnt make it as she while receiving treatment.

CSP Bamidele Job, Immediately he received the report, sent his men to the scene of the incident. Kehinde was already on the run so her husband was arrested.

The case was further transferred to the homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation.

Kehinde was further apprehended at Saki area of Oyo state following a technical and intelligence based investigation which carried out by the homicide team

On interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the crime but claimed that she didn’t know what came over her on that fateful day.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect and her husband initially lied to the family of the deceased that it was cooking gas that exploded and burnt the deceased. But when the lie was exposed, the husband quickly asked the wife to take to flight.

The spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered the speedy conclusion of the investigation into the case with the view to charge the case to court as soon as possible.
