  • JAMB conducted the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for candidates with disabilities through its Equal Opportunity Group,

  • It successfully examined 501 blind candidates across 11 centers nationwide.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results, with a notable incident of impersonation involving a blind candidate.

According to Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, JAMB Registrar, a blind candidate hired another visually impaired person to sit the exam on their behalf.

“Sadly, one of them was also involved in impersonation by recruiting an undergraduate student who is also blind to come and write for another blind candidate,” Oloyede said during a briefing in Abuja.

Despite this incident, Oloyede reaffirmed JAMB’s commitment to supporting persons with disabilities. “The Board remains committed to providing the necessary support for persons with disabilities aspiring to pursue tertiary education,” he emphasised.

The 2025 UTME results show a staggering outcome, with over 1.5 million candidates scoring below 200 out of 400 marks.

A total of 39,834 results have been withheld due to various infractions, including examination malpractices and registration issues.

“The high failure rate in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination is clear evidence that the government’s anti-malpractice measures are yielding results,” said Dr. Tunji Alausa, Minister of Education.

JAMB has taken measures to ensure the credibility of the examination process, including refunding registration fees to blind and challenged candidates, providing transportation, lodging, and feeding for them. The Prof. Peter Okebukola-led JAMB Equal Opportunity Group has demonstrated exceptional dedication in ensuring that candidates with disabilities can sit examinations despite their challenges.
