The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has come under severe scrutiny for purchasing a bulletproof car valued at N300 million.
Daily Report Nigeria reports that Aiyedatiwa allegedly ordered the purchase of the vehicle from the subsidy palliatives fund approved for the state by the federal government.
The discovery has forced the Ondo State House of Assembly to commence the process of impeaching Aiyedatiwa.
The Deputy Governor is accused of gross misconduct and abuse of office by the assembly following an emergency plenary on Wednesday.

According to sources within the Assembly, about 23 lawmakers have already signed the impeachment notice against Aiyedatiwa.
Aiyedatiwa is said to have approved the sum of N300 million for the purchase of a bulletproof SUV for his personal use in the absence of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, who was recuperating in Germany at the time.
The source said the impeachment proceedings underscore the Assembly’s commitment to accountability, even at the highest levels of state governance.
Aiyedatiwa has also been accused of plotting a protest against his boss in the wake of an impending impeachment.
