The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced that it neutralized at least 640 terrorists, apprehended 1,051 suspects, and rescued 563 kidnapped hostages in May.
According to DHQ spokesman Edward Buba, intense pressure from troops has degraded the potency of terrorist groups, leading to the neutralization of senior commanders and fighters.
Troops have also apprehended logistic suppliers, informants, and recovered 707 assorted weapons and 16,487 ammunitions, including AK-47 rifles, locally fabricated guns, and pump action guns.
In the North-East, Operation Hadin Kai has achieved notable successes, neutralizing key terrorists, including a leader of an IED cell in Sambisa forest.

He added that troops rescued 386 hostages held captive for over 10 years and handed them over to the Borno government.
Additionally, 1,099 surrendered BH/ISWAP terrorists’ combatants and their families have been recorded, with the recovery of 200 AK47 rifles and 53 fabricated rifles.

In the North-Central, Operation Safe Haven conducted offensive operations, killing 39 terrorists and violent extremists, apprehending 140 suspects, and rescuing 77 kidnapped hostages. Troops have also recovered nine AK47 rifles and other weapons.
Operation Whirl Stroke conducted operations against terrorist strongholds, arresting violent extremists, collaborators, and gunrunners. Troops neutralized 41 terrorists, arrested 184 suspects, and rescued 48 kidnapped hostages, recovering 18 AK47 rifles and 27 assorted arms.
In the North-West, Operation Hadarin Daji instigated rival clashes among terrorist groups, leading to the elimination of a notorious terrorist commander, Usman Modi Modi.
Troops neutralized 262 terrorists, arrested 204 suspects, and rescued 243 kidnapped hostages.
Buba further revealed that the Air Component recorded airstrikes on terrorist camps in Faskari, Bayan Ruwa Maradun, and Anka LGA in Zamfara, targeting terrorist leaders and enclaves.
