The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hudu Yunusa has been reportedly beaten and stripped after declaring Aisha Binani winner of the Adamawa governorship election.
Daily Report Nigeria earlier reported that Hudu announced Binani, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of Saturday’s supplementary poll on Sunday morning.
However, the announcement was declared a ‘usurpation of powers of the Returning Officer’ by the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), saying Hudu’s action had no effect whatsoever.

INEC said in a tweet that “The action of the REC is a usurpation of the power of the Returning Officer. It is null, void and of no effect.
“Consequently, the collation of results of the supplementary election is hereby suspended.”
Adamawa REC beaten, stripped
Shortly after the nullification of Binani as governor-elect, Hudu was attacked by suspected thugs, beaten and stripped off his clothes.
Videos seen by our correspond show the REC with a bloodied face and just a his undies on him.
What next for Adamawa?
More drama looks likely to unfold from the collation of results in an election that was declared inconclusive over alleged infraction of results on March 18.
All eyes now lie on INEC to bring an outright conclusion to the back and forth scenario.
