  • I Go Dye criticised Nigerian politicians for their predictable campaign stunts, warning voters not to fall for their “fake humility” ahead of the 2027 elections.
  • The comedian accused leaders of recycling old tactics, comparing them to political figures from the 1960s and blaming their lack of innovation for Nigeria’s stagnation.
  • He called for genuine, forward-thinking leadership, declaring, “We do not need actors, we need thinkers… not recycled lies.”

Nigerian comedian and  critic Francis Agoda, better known as I Go Dye, has called out politicians ahead of the 2027 general elections, accusing them of recycling the same old tricks to deceive voters.

In a strongly-worded Instagram post, the veteran entertainer warned Nigerians not to fall for the sudden displays of humility often exhibited by political aspirants during election periods. According to him, these tactics are not only outdated but insulting to the intelligence of the electorate.

“2027 dey near… Politicians don dey collect their white native from tailor hand. Very soon now, you go begin see dem for roadside dey buy corn, dey help roast bole with women, enter market like say na dem suffer pass you, chop for mama put like say na their house. Fake humility just to win your heart,” he wrote.

The comedian, who has consistently used his platform to speak on social and political issues, argued that the pattern of behaviour seen during every election cycle has become predictable and lacks any form of sincerity.

He further criticised politicians for vanishing once they assume office, noting that the promises and gestures made during campaigns are rarely fulfilled.

“But once dem win, dem go disappear like spirit. You no go see dem again until next election. Same old script since 1960. No innovation, no sincerity,” I Go Dye said.

Drawing a comparison to Nigeria’s independence era, he pointed out that even leaders from that time used similar strategies, but the failure to evolve has contributed to the country’s stagnation.

“Na the same format dem Awolowo use that year na una still dey use today. Zero creativity. Zero change. Na why Nigeria still dey where we dey,” he lamented.

The Delta-born comedian insisted that what the country needs now are leaders with original ideas and true intentions, not those who pretend to connect with the masses just to secure votes.

“We do not need actors, we need thinkers. We do not need visionary leaders, not recycled lies,” he concluded.

His post has generated widespread discussion, with many Nigerians in the comment section praising his boldness and agreeing that the current political culture must change if the nation hopes to move forward.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has filed a three-count charge against popular gospel music promoter Onyedikachukwu Nwokeabia, widely known as Eezee Tee, over the alleged misappropriation of $443,371.

According to documents filed before the Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos, Eezee Tee and his record label, Eezee Conceptz, are accused of fraudulently converting various sums — $112,985, $260,494, and $69,892 — said to belong to gospel singers Mercy Chinwo and Judith ‘Judikay’ Kanayo.
