Alleged 35-year-old female passenger, Jatau Lydia Lami and drug trafficker who was arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, confessed she wanted to raise N5m ransom to release her mother from bandits.

Lami, a mother of three was nabbed at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, while trying to export 1,700 tablets of Tramadol 225mg concealed in her luggage to Istanbul, Turkey via a Turkish Airline flight on Sunday, July 31, 2022.

It was gathered that she hails from Zango Kataf LGA of Kaduna State and lives in Istanbul, Turkey with her family.

Meanwhile, NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, in a statement on Sunday, August 7, noted the suspect blamed her action on pressure from abductors to raise N5million ransom to bail her mother from captivity who was kidnapped since June 2022.
