The crooner of “Ojapiano” said that before changing jobs, both his father and brother, Emeka Okonkwo, alias E-Money, co-founder of Five Star Music, were disc jockeys.

He said;

“My father was a DJ, a record seller. I grew up in a home where my father sold records. So all the old-school artistes, I know them [their music]. I was selling their records when I was about 5 or 6 years old.

When I was in secondary school, I was already handling a full record store and playing at parties. I and E-Money were DJs. So, I listened to a lot of artistes.”

A while back, Kcee revealed that he earned more money from his joint gospel album with Okwesili Eze Group, titled ‘Cultural Praise,’ than he did from his entire secular music career.

The 44-year-old singer, from Anambra State, made this revelation during a recent interview with Cool FM in Lagos.

According to Kcee, the gospel album, which many had criticized, turned out to be his most streamed project to date.

“When I did the gospel [album] and many people were saying, ‘It’s over, he is actually going back to his village. Now he’s taking the music to the village.’

“That was horrible. When I heard that, I thought, ‘Okay, let’s see how it goes.’ And it didn’t turn out that way. I made more money from it [the gospel album] than ever before in my entire career,” he said.
