I Want My Anti-Corruption War Sustained by Successive Govt—Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that he would want to hand over power to a regime that will follow his legacy by fighting corruption.

The President made the wish on Friday when he met with the management of the Code of Conduct Tribunal led by its Chairman, Danladi Umar, at the state house.

Buhari said he wishes to see the foundation laid by his administration to be sustained by successive governments in the country.

According to him, corruption remained an existential threat to nations.

The president said:
It is our hope that the foundation which has been laid by this administration will be carried forward and continued, as the issue of corruption remains an existential threat to all nations.”

He equally recognised the sacrifices made by the Code of Conduct Tribunal headed by its Chairman, Danladi Umar, and other similar agencies, amidst the stiff economic and revenue shortages.

Buhari was elected president of the Republic of Nigeria under the All Progressives Congress, APC in 2015 after he defeated the sitting president and his main rival in the race, Goodluck Jonathan from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Having served for eight years in office, Buhari would be handing over to the next president on May 29, 2023.
