  • A gruesome murder has sent shivers down the spine of many, following the death of a baby.

  • Daily Report Nigeria gathers that the accused, the child’s father blames the act on him being bewitched.

Men of the Ogun state police command have arrested a man, for the gruesome murder of his 41-day-old baby.

According to reports, the accused, identified as Ifagbenga Taiwo, a trainee herbalist, who was said to have slit the throat of his son, claimed he was under a spell when he did it, adding that he does not remember anything.

The incident was reported to have happened in the Keesi area of Adatan, Abeokuta on Monday, December 9.

Confirming the incident, the Ogun state police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola said Wasilat accused her husband of the crime, thereby leading to his arrest and investigation into the matter.

Upon interrogations, Taiwo narrated how he used a knife to killed the child, while blaming it on extraterrestrial forces.

“I didn’t go home on Sunday due to engagements at work. I went home on Monday, took my bath, gave my wife a feeding allowance, and left the house,” Taiwo explained in Yoruba. “When I got to work, I realized I had left the charms I used for self-protection at home. I went back to pick them up, but shortly after returning to work, I felt uneasy, like something was circulating in my body, and I felt like committing a crime.”

When I got home, I didn’t see my wife outside. I went inside, picked a knife, and went to where my son was laid. That’s the last thing I remember before I came back to my senses,” he recounted. “When I realized my son was dead, I was shocked and fled through the back door of the house.”

Speaking on rumours of him wanting to divorce his wife, he said;

“I love my wife, and I did not plan to divorce her. I don’t know how it happened. I had already done it before I realized what I did. I fled because I didn’t know what to do. I am sorry about what I did,”
