I Will Not Resign - Malami Insists Amid Resignation Calls | Daily Report Nigeria

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has throw shades at those calling for his resignation.

The Minister of Justice stated he won’t be resigning from office, instead, expressing optimism to see his tenure to a “glorious end” by May 2023.

He stated this while delivering a keynote address at a conference organised by the National Association of Judiciary Correspondents in Abuja, describing reports of resigning as mere rumors.

Malami said: “It is high time that we enhance media literacy for Nigerians to appreciate fact-checking and verification of information.

“Many who relied on some unprofessional information disseminators will be taken aback that the Malami that was claimed to have resigned as Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice was still seen in office discharging his functions including attending the Federal Executive Council meeting yesterday, granting interviews to journalists and still today declaring this conference open as the Attorney General of the Federation.

“There is naturally an end to everything. My tenure in office has not yet ended. I pray for a glorious end.”

Malami came under heavy public scrutiny last week after reports emerged that he exonerated suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, who is facing trial for drug related crimes after being arrested by the National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.

Malami denied he exonerated the embattled super cop of fraudulent charges from the US following an alleged abetting with international fraudster, Ramon Abbas, popularly known as HushPuppi.
