- Governor Fubara warns Chief of Staff against unilateral decisions
- Role of Chief of Staff is to serve as governor’s personal aide
- Governor’s administration focused on sustaining projects and ensuring peace
- New appointees’ activities will be closely monitored
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has issued a stern warning to his newly appointed Chief of Staff, Sunny Ewule, cautioning him against holding meetings or making decisions without his explicit approval. Fubara emphasized that the role of Chief of Staff is to serve as his personal aide, not to independently convene gatherings or call people without instructions.
Speaking during the announcement of the new appointment, Fubara stressed that any attempt to hold meetings or make decisions without his approval would result in immediate dismissal. “I want to be very clear: this position is under me. If you involve yourself in midnight meetings or try to act on your own, I’ll sack you, and I am very serious,” he said.

Fubara also urged the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG), a mathematics lecturer, to leverage his academic background to ensure diligence, objectivity, and proper representation of the government in official matters. The governor reiterated that his administration remains focused on sustaining ongoing projects and advancing inherited programmes, with the goal of guaranteeing peace, progress, and prosperity in the state.
He warned that any action capable of bringing the government into disrepute would not be tolerated, assuring that the activities of the new appointees would be closely monitored. Fubara expressed confidence in his selections, describing the appointments as well-considered decisions aimed at supporting the administration’s agenda.
