Former Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari has declined to comment on current political events, stating that the time is not right for such discussion.

On Saturday, he spoke with journalists who paid him a courtesy visit at his country home in Talata-Mafara town in the state’s Talata-Mafara Local Government Area.

Yari, on the other hand, dismissed claims that he is afraid to speak to the press about political issues, saying that he will certainly express his views when the time comes.

According to him, he was at his country home to meet with some of his political associates.

He praised the journalists, saying that the correspondents chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) state council and his administration had a good working relationship while he was governor.

“I am a grassroots politician, not a politician from Abuja or Kaduna.” “I always come to Zamfara State to conduct all of my political activities because Zamfara State has always been my immediate constituency,” he explained.

He advised journalists to always double-check their reports before going public in order to avoid embarrassment or spreading false information.
