The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) disclosed that it recovered ₦37.44 billion and $2.353 million in 2025 through asset seizures and forfeitures.

The Commission’s Chairman, Musa Aliyu (SAN), revealed the figures during the ICPC’s End-of-Year Engagement, Annual Merit Awards, and send-off for retiring staff, noting that the recoveries ranked among the agency’s most significant annual achievements.

In 2025, the ICPC investigated 263 cases, surpassing its target of 250, and filed 61 cases in court, achieving a conviction rate of 55.74%. Notable prosecutions include Professor Cyril Ndifon of the University of Calabar, sentenced to five years for sexual harassment and cyberbullying.

On prevention, the ICPC assessed 344 MDAs using the Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard, carried out 66 corruption-monitoring activities, 1,490 project-tracking exercises, and Systems Study and Corruption Risk Assessments in 12 ministries and agencies.

For public engagement, the Commission reached over 235,000 Nigerians through 644 sensitisation activities, generated 3.5 million digital interactions, established 86 Anti-Corruption Clubs and Vanguards, and trained 2,707 participants at the ICPC Academy.

The Chairman also highlighted the Commission’s collaborative efforts, including 15 joint activities with partners and 57 civil society-led engagements, and announced the Cost-of-Living Adjustment allowance for staff for the first time.

Aliyu urged staff to maintain integrity and professionalism as the Commission prepares for 2026, while the Fiscal Responsibility Commission Chairman, Victor Muruako, praised ICPC’s interventions for strengthening accountability at the local government level.
