The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has asked Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote to appear before a panel of investigators in Abuja on Monday over a petition he filed against Farouk Ahmed, the former Managing Director of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

A source at the ICPC confirmed the development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), stating that a special panel has been set up to handle the investigation, which will focus on Dangote’s allegations.

The petition alleges that Ahmed engaged in corrupt practices, misappropriated funds, and spent millions of dollars on the education of his four children in exclusive Swiss schools.

Additionally, Dangote claimed that Ahmed undermined domestic refining by colluding with international oil traders and importers through the continued issuance of petroleum import licenses, contrary to efforts to support local production.

Although Ahmed has resigned from his position, the ICPC confirmed that the resignation does not halt the investigation, which will continue until the allegations are fully examined.

The petition estimates that Ahmed spent over $7 million on his children’s education without evidence of lawful income. Dangote is demanding Ahmed’s arrest, investigation, and prosecution for allegedly living beyond his means as a public officer.

John Okor Odey, the ICPC’s spokesperson, confirmed that the commission formally received Dangote’s petition on 16 December 2025, and that investigators have been directed to give full attention to the claims raised.
