The governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Umahi who is the chairman of the South-East Governors Forum, defected along with a large members of his administration, saying the south-east geo-political zone has suffered great injustice from PDP.
His defection comes just a few days of speculation following the APC’s South-East caucus meeting in Abuja, on Monday night deep into the early hours of Tuesday.
Securing the nation’s presidential seat is the target for the South-East in 2023, which is something Umahi has accused the PDP to have short-changed the zone.
Recall that Imo state governor, Hope Uzodinma recently declared that more south-east governors will defect to APC soon
