Renowned Nigerian music producer ID Cabasa recently shared insights into the vast number of unreleased songs that rapper Olamide has saved on his system.

In an interview posted on X on Monday, Cabasa spoke about how artists with a strong work ethic, like Olamide, often have a large backlog of songs waiting to be released.

He said, “Bring many songs wey no make am out wey dey on top my system… Even my own no plenty reach Olamide own,” adding that if he counted Olamide’s unreleased songs, it would exceed 100.

He also noted that besides solo songs, there are many collaborations with producers such as Young Jonn and Pheelz that haven’t seen the light of day yet. According to Cabasa, the key is discipline — artists consistently record music whether or not they plan to release it immediately.

“It’s just that discipline that we’ve given ourselves — whether we are releasing songs or not, we just show up. We just want to release stuff down,” he explained.

Cabasa advised up-and-coming artists to adopt a similar approach of persistent creativity rather than waiting for ideal circumstances. He mentioned that to put together a strong 12-track album these days, one might record up to 50 songs while refining their ideas.

His revelations shed light on the unseen efforts behind Nigeria’s music scene and highlight the dedication that helps artists like Olamide maintain their longevity.
