“Me and Mr Peter Obi have a solid relationship. If Peter Obi doesn’t get the ticket in ADC, he should come back to the Labour Party. I will back him to get the ticket,” Datti said.

The former vice-presidential candidate recently declared his intention to contest the presidency under the Labour Party, following Obi’s move to the ADC. He explained that his decision was not borne out of conflict but political necessity.

Datti clarified that Obi did not inform him before defecting to the ADC, noting that Obi likely understood he would not make the move alongside him.

“He did not tell me anything about the ADC party because he knew I would not join,” Datti added.

Despite belonging to different political platforms, Datti stressed that his relationship with Obi remains intact and based on mutual respect.

He concluded by saying that his priority is strengthening democratic processes and supporting candidates committed to national development, regardless of party differences.
