The Inspector-General of Police, Dr Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the appointment of Chief Superintendent of Police Benjamin Hundeyin as the new Force Public Relations Officer.
The confirmation was contained in a statement released on Thursday by the outgoing FPRO, Mr Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who described his successor as a well-qualified officer with solid academic and professional credentials.
According to the statement, CSP Hundeyin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language from Lagos State University and a Master of Science in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan. He also obtained a certificate in Civil-Military Coordination from the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Training Centre, Jaji, Kaduna State.
He is an Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, a Member of the International Public Relations Association, and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria.
Adejobi highlighted Hundeyin’s extensive professional background, noting that he had previously served as the Police Public Relations Officer at Zone 2 Command Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos.
He was also part of the Nigerian contingent to the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur, Sudan in 2020, and later worked as Administration Officer at the Force Public Relations Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja. Until his current appointment, Hundeyin was the Police Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Police Command.
The Inspector-General, through the statement, tasked the new spokesman to deploy his communication and security expertise to bolster the Force’s image and maintain strong relations with citizens.

The appointment came a day after Mr Adejobi was redeployed as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations at the Delta State Police Command. In a message posted on his X handle, he stated that the posting reflected the confidence of the Force leadership in his professionalism and capacity to enhance operational strategies in the Command.
Adejobi’s tenure as the Force image-maker earned him wide recognition for improving police visibility on social media and strengthening public engagement through crisis communication.
