In a move to enhance security during the upcoming Edo State governorship election, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has announced a ban on security aides and escorts for politicians and VIPs.
The announcement comes as part of comprehensive measures to promote a peaceful and transparent electoral environment.
The IGP’s directive includes a restriction on all vehicular movement from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on election day, with exceptions for accredited media, electoral officials, ambulances, and emergency responders.
“To ensure a credible electoral process, we have implemented these security measures,” stated Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
