Urges detractors to end campaign for his removal
The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Western Zone has declared its “unwavering support” for the Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), High Chief Dr Dennis Burutu Otuaro, PhD, commending what it described as his “outstanding and transformative leadership” in managing the programme.
This was contained in a statement signed by Comrade Nicholas Igarama, Chairman, IYC Western Zone, Ebi Joshua Olowolayemo Esq, Secretary, and Comrade Tare Magbei, Information Officer.
The statement reads partly: “True to the Ijaw philosophy of truth and justice, we boldly affirm that Dr Otuaro’s performance has brought renewed life to the PAP. A product of the struggle that birthed the programme, Dr Otuaro brings passion, purpose, and strategic intelligence to the table, qualities that have redefined the trajectory of PAP under his watch.

“Through consistent stakeholder engagement ranging from ex-agitators and youth groups to traditional rulers and women leaders, Dr Otuaro has deepened the peace and stability in the Niger Delta.
“He has revitalised the core mandates of the programme, particularly training and reintegration, by expanding vocational education opportunities and empowering youths to become agents of change.
“Under his leadership, stipends are now paid promptly and consistently, with advocacy ongoing for an upward review. Notably, his scholarship drive has broadened educational access in the region, making free education more than just a dream for willing Niger Delta youths. It is now a living reality.”
The IYC maintained that these achievements were verifiable and tangible results of a leader committed to progress, adding that calls for Dr Otuaro’s removal were “misguided and counterproductive”.

The group further urged those pushing for his removal to abandon such moves and instead support the current administration of the PAP in the interest of the Niger Delta.
It vowed to continue defending the vision and leadership of Dr Otuaro while ensuring the success of the PAP for the benefit of the region and Nigeria at large.
