According to eyewitnesses, the tragic event took place at a sugarcane vendor stand in Oja Gboro, where both friends engaged in a heated argument over a woman they were romantically interested in. The disagreement escalated quickly, leading Gafar to allegedly stab Tunde in the chest with a knife.

“We heard that they were arguing over a girlfriend they were both interested in, and before anyone could intervene, Gafar had already stabbed his friend,” a police source revealed.

The victim, who lived in Ile-Soro 2 in Oja Gboro, was rushed to a nearby hospital before being transferred to the General Hospital, Ilorin, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police Adekimi Ojo commended residents for maintaining peace and refraining from taking the law into their own hands. “We understand the pain of losing a loved one in such a tragic way, but we urge everyone to remain calm as the police intensify efforts to bring the suspect to justice,” he said.
