The Nigerian Immigration Service has returned an international passport seized from Peter Odili, a former governor of Rivers State.
Nigerian Immigration Service’s lawyer, Jimoh Adamu, told a Federal High Court in Abuja that Odili’s daughter, Njideka Nwosu-Iheme, a serving judge of the Federal Capital Territory’s High Court, collected the passport for her father on December 20 last year at the Immigration headquarters in Abuja.
Adamu, in a motion filed, exhibited Odili’s letter of request and other evidence demonstrating that he had received the passport.

Justice Inyang Ekwo, who heard the case on Monday, stated that the new motion was not yet before the court.
The EFCC expands its investigation into Odili’s N100 billion scam, while the Nigerian Immigration Service retains possession of his passport.
Earlier in October 2021, Justice Ekwo ordered the Service to release Odili’s international passport immediately.
He declared the service’s seizure to be illegal, unconstitutional, and a violation of his fundamental rights.
The judge also ordered the service to apologize to the former governor and to stop harassing and intimidating him from leaving the country or moving freely within the country.
