The Ijaw National Congress has condoled with the Ohanaeze Ndigbo over the death of Prof. George Obiazor, the group’s President General.
INC President, Prof. Benjamin Okaba, in a statement issued by the INC National Publicity Secretary, Engr Ezonebi Oyakemeagbegha, described the death of the renowned academic and outstanding diplomat as shocking and devastating to his family, Imo state, Ndigbo and Nigeria at large.
He noted that the great Igbo leader, who had meritoriously served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States and Israel, took a bow at a critical time in Nigeria’s history, where his wise counsel and purposeful leadership would have been of immense benefit to the Igbo ethnic nationality ahead of the 2023 elections.

He stated that as the leader of a similar apex sociocultural organisation as Ohaneze Ndigbo, he could not but share in the pains of the loss of his counterpart, and urged the bereaved family and all those mourning Prof. Obiozor’s death to take solace in the fulfilled life he lived.
He prayed God to grant the soul of the departed eternal rest and the mourners the fortitude to best the loss.
Obiozor was elected president of Ohanaeze in January 2021.
He succeeded John Nnia Nwodo as President-General of the apex Igbo sociocultural group.
