His Royal Majesty Pere S. P. Luke Kalanama VIII (JP), Pere of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom, has been honoured with the 2025 INC Western Zone Royal Majesty of the Year Award by the immediate past leadership of the Western Zone of the Ijaw National Congress (INC).
The recognition was presented during a special appreciation event held to mark the end of the tenure of the former INC Western Zone leadership, led by Chief Robinson Ogunkoru as Chairman and Barr. Samuel A. B. Ikporukpo as Secretary.
The ceremony took place within the Western Zone of the Ijaw National Congress in Delta State, where traditional leaders, community representatives, and members of the INC gathered to celebrate His Majesty’s contributions.
HRM Pere Kalanama VIII was honoured for his outstanding support to the INC Western Zone during the previous administration’s tenure, as well as his enduring commitment to Ijaw unity, cultural preservation, and inter-community cooperation.

His leadership within the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council and the South-South Monarchs Forum further exemplified his role as a unifying figure.
The former INC Western Zone executives described His Majesty as aBrand Ambassador of the Ijaw Nation, Most INC Western Zone Friendly Traditional Ruler, Advocate of Ijaw Unity, Pride of the Ijaw Nation, and Bridge Builder.
The award was formally presented in recognition of these qualities and his visible impact on the progress of the Ijaw people.
The event concluded with words of appreciation from the former INC leaders, who credited HRM Kalanama VIII’s wisdom and support as a key factor in the stability and growth achieved during their administration.
