INEC Continues Collation of Adamawa Governorship Election results

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has resumed the collation results for the Adamawa governorship election.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that collation of results for the supplementary poll was halted on Sunday after the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hudu Yunusa-Ari, declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Aisha Binani, the winner of the election.

The development led the summoning of Ari by INEC and warned to stay away from the office.

The electoral body has also called on the Insoector-General of Police, Baba Ahmed, to investigate and prosecute the Adamawa REC for his actions.

Following the conclusion of a technical meeting attended by all national commissioners of INEC in Abuja on Tuesday, the commission resumed the collation exercise.

INEC also wrote the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, to brief the President Muhammadu Buhari of the action of the REC.
