The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has removed Chief Timipre Sylva as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in the Bayelsa State governorship election on November 11, 2023.
It was gathered that Sylva’s removal was taken in compliance with a court ruling that disqualified the APC candidate and his running mate, Great Joshua Maclver from contesting the poll.

The Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Okorowo had disqualified him
on October 9, 2023.
Okorowo had given the disqualification order because Sylva had served as governor of Bayelsa state for two terms, totaling five years.
In response, Sylva filed an appeal with the Court of Appeal in Abuja, with the hearing scheduled for October 27.
