The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed the publication of personal details of candidates for the 2025 Anambra State governorship election from 16 political parties, following the closure of its nomination portal on May 12.
The Commission urged citizens to scrutinize the documents and advised aggrieved aspirants to seek redress in a Federal High Court.
The final candidate list will be published on June 9, ahead of the November 8 election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Saturday confirmed the publication of personal details of candidates nominated by 16 political parties for the forthcoming Anambra State governorship election. The nomination portal officially closed by 6:00 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2025.

According to a statement signed by Sam Olumekun, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, the parties met the deadline, and details of the candidates have now been published.
“Following the conclusion of party primaries, sixteen (16) Political Parties have uploaded their candidates’ nomination forms for the Anambra State Governorship Election by the deadline of 6.00pm on Monday 12th May 2025 when the dedicated portal automatically shuts down,” the statement read.

INEC confirmed that, in compliance with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2022, it has published copies of Form EC9 and other credentials submitted by each candidate and their running mates at the state headquarters and all 21 local government offices in Anambra.
The Commission encouraged public scrutiny and legal redress if necessary.
“Any aspirant who participated in his/her party primaries with reasonable grounds to believe that the information provided by a candidate is false can challenge the nomination in a Federal High Court as provided in Section 29(5) of the Electoral Act 2022,” Olumekun noted.
The Commission added that the final list of candidates will be released on June 9, in line with Section 32(1) of the Electoral Act, which mandates publication at least 150 days before the election. The Anambra governorship election is slated for Saturday, November 8, 2025.
