INEC Records 12.2m New Registration in 13 Months

INEC Records 12.2m New Registration in 13 Months | Daily Report Nigeria

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has disclosed that a total of 12,298,944 new voters completed their registration as of Monday, Aug. 1, 2022.

According to the electoral umpire, the figure was executed within 13 months.

According to INEC, no fewer than 93,303,016 eligible voters are now on the voter register after the registration ended on Sunday July 31, 2022.

The chart also shows that the Northwest region recorded most registered voters with 22,672,373 ahead of the Southwest, which has 18, 332,191 registered voters.

It equally shows the overall number of persons who have registered so far across the six geopolitical zones.

Northwest 22.67 million

Southwest 18.3 million

Southsouth 15.2 million

Northcentral 14.1 million

Northeast 12.8 million

Southeast 11.49 million
The statistics on the INEC website also proved that a total of 6,224,866 women registered to vote, while 6,074,078 men participated in the exercise.

A total of 8,784,677 youths between the ages of 18 and 34 also registered to vote.

The middle age bracket of 35-49 gathered 2,430,709, while the elderly class (50-69 years), 956,017 and 70 and above, 127,541.
