INEC Registers 1.2 Million Voters In Six Weeks Of CVR Phase II

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 1,228,648 Nigerians successfully completed their voter registration under Phase II of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise as of February 13, 2026.

In an update released at the end of Week Six on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, the commission disclosed that 673,124 applicants completed their registration through the online pre-registration platform, while 555,524 finalised the process physically at designated centres across the country.

INEC’s data showed that women accounted for the majority of new registrants, with 696,891 registrations representing 57 per cent of the total figure. Male registrants stood at 531,757, making up 43 per cent.

The commission also recorded strong youth participation, revealing that 848,066 registrants — approximately 69.02 per cent — fall within the 18 to 34 age bracket.

Furthermore, INEC reported that 19,414 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) have successfully registered nationwide during the ongoing exercise.

The CVR exercise forms part of the commission’s preparations for upcoming elections. INEC urged eligible Nigerians to take advantage of both the online pre-registration portal and physical registration centres before the deadline.
