INEC noted that the initial phase of the CVR, which began on August 18, 2025, ended on December 10, 2025, while the second phase commenced on January 5, 2026.
The exercise is currently ongoing across all local government areas in Lagos State as well as at the INEC state headquarters.
Salami urged residents who are yet to register to take advantage of the opportunity, stressing that the commission remains committed to expanding voter participation.
He added that the eligibility criteria and registration requirements remain unchanged.
According to him, from February 2026, the registration exercise will adopt a rotational system across Registration Areas to improve accessibility and convenience for prospective voters.

The REC assured that INEC personnel are fully prepared to conduct the exercise in a smooth and transparent manner, but expressed concern over the low turnout recorded so far in the second phase.
He further disclosed that the current phase of the CVR will run until April 17, 2026, warning that any form of disorder or misconduct at registration centres would not be tolerated.
Salami said relevant security agencies have been placed on alert to ensure orderliness and provide a safe environment for registrants throughout the exercise.
INEC also announced that the third phase of the Continuous Voter Registration is scheduled to begin on May 4, 2026, and will end on August 17, 2026, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
