Insecurity: DSS Invites Sheik Gumi Over Comments On Banditry

The Department of State Services (DSS) has invited notorious agitator for bandits to be treated with love, Sheik Ahmad Gumi.

The invitation was confirmed by spokesman of the the DSS, Peter Afunanya.

According to Afunanya, the Islamic cleric was invited for interrogation by the DSS, but did not state why Gumi was invited.

He also declined to comment further when Daily Trust asked whether Gumi will be released later in the day.

Afunanya simply said, ”Sheikh Gumi was invited by the Service. It’s not out of place for the Service to invite any person of interest”.

Sheik Gumi’s spokesman, Tukur Mamu, also confirmed the his invitation to the commission’s Kaduna office as quoted by VOA Hausa service.

When he featured on an ARISE Television programme earlier in the week,

Gumi had said some operatives of the military were conniving with bandits by supplying them weapons when he appeared on Arise Television program earlier in the week.

Though, the military had earlier cautioned Gumi to be mindful of his utterances, spokesperson of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Onyeama Nwachukwu, noted that the allegations made by the cleric were serious and an attempt to demoralise its troops.
